After a period of physical and social isolation, we are now stepping into the ‘new normal.’ But how do we truly define this new reality? Paul E. Visser's documentary follows the dancers as they return to the stage, navigating this so-called ‘new normal.’ However, after such a time marked by isolation, new psychological landscapes, and lingering fears, can we really speak of a return to normal?
This raises an important question: How has Covid-19 reshaped the CNB dancers' approach to their art, both mentally and artistically?
Throughout the documentary, we follow the dancers both inside and outside the theatre. In their downtime, they share individual artistic visions that, when brought to the stage, blend into a collective whole. Inside the theatre walls, these visions are transformed into movement. The documentary offers an intimate view of the dancers’ return to the stage, ultimately forming the artistic entity that is the National Ballet Company (CNB).
This video, however, is not the full documentary. It showcases only four choreographic works created specifically for BOW, a documentary directed by Paul Visser for the National Ballet Company of Portugal (CNB). In this particular video, the audience is treated to the four choreographic works by Miguel Esteves.
